ABOUT LOS CAUCHOS
Specialty coffee from the most renowned region in Colombia: Huila

NEW GENERATION OF COFFEE: WOMEN LED FARMING
Los Cauchos is a coffee-producing settlement in the municipality of San Agustín, in the department of Huila, Colombia. Smallholder farms in this area cultivate specialty varieties such as Caturra and Pink Bourbon, supported by high elevations, a stable mountain microclimate, and fertile Andean soils that yield clean, fruity, and floral cup profiles.
The community includes producer groups, cooperatives, and recently formed women’s productive associations that are exploring value-added activities such as improved processing, roasting, and agrotourism.
While these initiatives reflect the region’s growing dynamism, our work at Grounds and Plurilateral Solutions focuses specifically on collaborating with the Moncayo and Muñoz family and supporting their continued quality improvements and micro-lot production.
The Moncayo and Muñoz families have grown together as neighbors, sharing knowledge and refining their cultivation and post-harvest practices over the years. Luis Muñoz’s three daughters now manage the family farms, with Mayra participating in the Association of Young Women Coffee Growers, contributing to the next generation of leadership in Los Cauchos.
