GR03- Wush Wush Betulia

Luis Anibal Calderón is considered one of the most innovative coffee farmers in the municipality of Acevedo, in the Huila department of Colombia. His passion for specialty coffee and his deep understanding of the interaction between microclimate, soil composition, and coffee varieties have earned him international recognition.

At a time when many producers focused on mass production, Luis Anibal deliberately chose quality over quantity. This decision initially led to lower yields, but his focus on high-quality varieties and experimental processing methods paid off. Today, he is admired by many who were once skeptical of his vision.

His farm now serves as a model for other coffee growers in the region. Many seek his advice, wish to benefit from his knowledge, and acquire seeds from him.

VARIETY: Wush Wush

Wush Wush is named after the Wushwush area in Ethiopia's Kaffa region, renowned for its fertile highlands and rich biodiversity. The variety was introduced to Colombia approximately 30 years ago, where it has adapted to the country's high-altitude environments. Despite its low yield and cultivation challenges, Wush Wush is prized for its exceptional cup quality.

Flavor Profile

Wush Wush is celebrated for its complex and aromatic flavor profile, often described as:

• Floral and Fruity: Notes of jasmine, lavender, lychee, and tropical fruits like passion fruit and watermelon.

• Sweet and Delicate: Flavors reminiscent of vanilla, honey, and Turkish delight.

• Wine-like Acidity: A bright, juicy acidity with a silky mouthfeel and a clean finish.

These characteristics make Wush Wush comparable to the esteemed Geisha variety, offering a unique and memorable tasting experience.

These methods, while labor-intensive, contribute to the distinctive qualities that make Wush Wush highly sought after in the specialty coffee market.

15 kg. bags are sent with signed postal service. 46 kg. AND 69 kg bags are sent with courier/freight transport. 

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are calculated during checkout based on weight, dimensions and destination of the items in the order. Payment for shipping will be collected with the purchase.

This price will be the final price for shipping cost to the customer.

Transit Time Domestically

In general, domestic (EU) shipments are in transit for 2 - 7 days

Orders placed before 12:00 will be dispatched the same day, otherwise, within the next business day.

Our warehouse operates on Monday - Friday during standard business hours, except on national holidays at which time the warehouse will be closed. In these instances, we take steps to ensure shipment delays will be kept to a minimum.

Change Of Delivery Address

For change of delivery address requests, we are able to change the address at any time before the order has been dispatched.

P.O. Box Shipping

Grounds Costa Rica will ship to P.O. box addresses using postal services only. We are unable to offer couriers services to these locations. Only 15 kg. bags can be sent using postal service.

This lot is produced through a carefully controlled fermentation.

Only fully ripe cherries are selected at harvest to ensure optimal sugar content and uniformity. After picking, the cherries are placed in bags and undergo a 72-hour aerobic fermentation (oxidation). Following fermentation, the coffee is dried slowly for about 20 days on raised African beds, ensuring even drying and the preservation of delicate aromatics
